FTC product disclosure on reviews and testing

Just a few words about the reviews you will find here.  We here at the Faded fly don’t receive any Free equipment to test, no free drinks, movie tickets, travel expenses or basically any other type of promo.  In fact, I am a little left out of the mainstream way of doing business. I purchase and test all the equipment I write reviews about.  The Faded Fly tests all the equipment our shop stocks, not just in the casting pond, but out on the rivers, streams and lakes of Idaho, Oregon and Washington.  Many of our clients will take out equipment and let me know exactly what they think of it in detail.  The reason for sending equipment out is to make sure that my own opinion is not so strong as to affect the sale or non-sale of items in the Fly Fishing arena.

    I will often purchase rods reels and other competing equipment so that our clients can actually cast and use equipment side by side, of competing vendors, to make a more informed decision about their new equipment purchase.

    The FTC has strongly suggested that we use a disclosure to keep our friends, clients, potential clients and our competition abreast on our relationship with marketers and vendors.  So…here we go.  Yes, we are a full service fly shop located in Nampa Idaho.  It is true that you will find our reviews about product we carry to be more on the positive side.

        If there are products that simply don’t make a positive impression, we will not carry that product.  However, to be completely unbiased, I will attain the product for the sole purpose of demonstration and testing, through our network of clients.

For the sake of honesty, we will only sell equipment that works and is functional on the water.  Our main purpose in writing reviews is that you as a consumer may be more educated about the decision making process in the vast backwaters of Fly-fishing.  You can buy product anywhere, we know that, true service in this industry is King and will always win the hearts of great clients such as yourself.  I personally want to thank-you for the gracious and warm reception we have recieved.  The Faded Fly will continue to be a source of education and enlightenment for all who seek it.  Remember, Fly Fishing is…..More than a way of life.
