Ken Burkholder was born and raised in Boise and graduated from Borah High School in 1973.

He began fishing the small creeks of the Boise River drainage as a youngster and as a teenager, began immersing himself on Silver Creek and the South Fork of the Boise, always fishing flies he fashioned himself.

In short, he became a dry fly junkie.

    Along with fly fishing Ken played the oboe. He pursued and earned both a Bachelor’s and Masters’ degree on the instrument. After performing with the Boise Philharmonic for over thirty years, Ken is now concentrating his efforts on the fly fishing industry full-time.

    Guiding on the South Fork of the Snake River since 1985, fuels Ken’s fly tying energies. His goal in fly design is to tie and then fish dry flies as living insects. His flies are used throughout the world. He is most well known for the Club Sandwich foam fly.
